New York’s Times Square gets a Pop-Tart store

This week, Times Square Store played host to the new opening of the Pop Tart store. The shop depending on the pastry offers Pop-Tarts inspired cuisine and Pop-Tarts vending machines. At $ 1,000 per square foot, Times Square rent is a massive expense for the business, which hasn’t yet decided whether the Pop-Tart shop is going to be a permanent fixture.

What the Pop-Tarts store features

There is just a little bit of every little thing offered up at the Pop-Tarts World. The cafe at Pop-Tarts World serves up Pop-Tarts sandwiches, Pop-Tarts-covered celery, even Pop-Tarts topped cinnamon rolls. For $ 1 per pastry, you are able to create your own variety pack of 12 flavors. You are able to also build your own Pop-Tart, including just about any topping or flavor you are able to think of.

Brand visibility is the goal of the Pop-Tarts store

The Pop-Tarts business determined to open up the Times Square shop to show its “brand maturity”. The toaster treat is halfway between a breakfast bar and a pastry, and sales lately are relatively flat. Pop-Tarts sold $ 481 million worth of the pastries in 2009.

Baking your own Pop-Tarts

If you are not anywhere near the Pop-Tarts store in Times Square, that does not mean you’ve to go without customized Pop-Tarts. Making your own Pop-Tarts is not only easy, but it can be healthier and less expensive. It takes less than 20 cents per pastry and no high fructose corn syrup to make your own. In a bowl, combine 2 cups of flour with 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 cup butter, 1 large egg, and a couple of tablespoons of milk. Roll out the dough and cut rectangles. On half of the rectangles, spread anything from chocolate to jam. Use the other half of the dough to top off the filling, and seal it by pressing a fork around the edges. Refrigerate the dough when you pre-heat the oven to 350, and then bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
